One question the Recap gets a lot is, "can I give you translations of the captions in my language?"
Truth is, we would love to. I very much wish. And someday, that is the plan.
However, at the moment, due to (imo well-intentioned but pointless) sanctions, there is currently no way to get money between Russia and most other places.
Pix and I were already on board before the sanctions started, so we were alright finding other solutions, but hiring anyone else right now isn't possible.
I know that internet culture has heavily normalized volunteer labor, especially in the context of moderation and/or accessibility, but we don't want to encourage other big channels that can afford to pay for captions or translations - if not just do it themselves - to cut corners. I also know this is a nasty Catch-22; is it worth exploiting one person's labor to increase multiple others' accessibility?
For right now, we've decided the answer is no, but mostly because we do hope to find a way to get official, paid for translations eventually. (this is not an invitation to volunteer - we already have a "waiting list") But even when we do there will be other things to consider, like how we can even double check a language we don't speak!
In the mean time, we will never object to people posting translated transcripts (text, not video re-uploads, obviously!) elsewhere, though for all the same reasons listed above, please don't take this as a request to actively do so. It's just addressing something that's asked frequently and I felt like speaking up about.
Please also do not take any of this as judgement on any creators who don't have captions (though if not even auto-captions, yes, I'm judging you! it's one button!) or who let volunteers help them with things like captions or moderation. Different creators and communities handle the collision of capitalism and their community's needs in different ways, and I can understand fans viewing it as a way to give back to creators. Hell, my own videos are rarely hand-captioned, despite being employed to do then for multiple other channels (because I just don't have the spoons left to Listen Intently that much after doing all the others), and my moderators are all volunteers. You do the best within the limits you have.
But I also see way too many people out there, especially too many minors, staying up too late to moderate Twitch chats or Subreddits for free, and I will do what I can to help break that cycle. Y'all's time isn't less valuable because you're not an adult, and moderation is inherently a task that by definition involves interacting with (deleting) foul content.
But yeah. That's why we won't be taking translations right now. Thank you for understanding <3

Writer's Meme, 2024 Edition
Thank you @raina-at for tagging me in the Fic Writer Meme!
How many works do you have on ao3?
60 in total. But 17 are covers to the chapters of Mutual Attraction“ (couldn’t properly embed pix then) so I have written 43 fics/ficlets.
What's your total word count?
404.688 (currently posting so number will rise)
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Learn My Scars, Mutual Attraction, The embers still glow when I’m sober, The toe that didn’t belong, Wretched and Divine
Do you respond to comments? Why/why not?
Yes, always and nearly always within 24 hours max. I love comments, they give me so much joy. Wether it’s an emoji or an elaborate analysis, I adore them all.
What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?
No angsty endings with me. Only one with an ambiguous happy-ish ending is “Until the final breath escapes” and I wrote this for Halloween.
What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?
They all end happily and in Johnlock.
Do you write crossovers?
So far, none. Maybe one day when inspiration hits. (Actually, it has already hit twice but both concepts are very vague. Like very.)
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
No real hate. Some inappropiate or weird or rude comments but they have been few.
Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
When I feel like it, yes. It varies. I’ve written explicit porn as well as “vanilla” smut.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
I’ve had kind offers on three fics for translations but I don’t feel comfortable about this so I politely declined.
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No. I cannot tell if it would work but I am not against trying in general.
What's your all-time favourite ship?
BBC Johnlock
What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?
I have been struggling with “Every fairy-tale needs a good old-fashioned hero” for years now. It should have been my fourth fic but I got knocked out of the vibe back then and now I cannot find my way back although I have tried already two times. I still want to write it. I hate unfinished projects. About 12k written (maybe a third??) and the rest is partly plotted.
What are your writing strengths?
This answer is highly biased, of course. I can write suspenseful action scenes (comments confirm this). I can make readers laugh via funny scenes (comment-confirmed as well). Can write porn and fluff. I generally think of myself as a versatile writer. And then I get imposter syndrome, like what am I even doing, self-taught writing in not my native language.
What are your writing weaknesses?
Writing long complicated nested sentences (I’m German. It’s the master language for long sentences) that are really too complicated in English.
Also, see above, I’m not a native speaker (although I count myself as fluent in English) but I write directly in English (no translations!). So, I have to look things/words up to check if they really mean what I think they mean.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
Would only be comfortable with German, obviously. Or very easy/short sentences in French or Italian. Only if the fic really needs it.
What was the first fandom you wrote for?
BBC Sherlock. I started very late in my life with writing fic. (With writing anything at all, actually.)
What's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to?
Klance. Keith Kogane x Lance McLain of Voltron – Legendary Defenders (anime). My second beloved ship. I do not actually want to write for this because there is such a distinct lingo to the characters and techno-babble if one writes in canon and I could not mimic this.
What's your favourite fic you've written?
I am not going to choose! I am proud of every single fic.
I don't know who has already been tagged but maybe @blogstandbygo @cumbercurlygirl @holmesianlove @7-percent want to give it a try

A Praying Chant - Chapter 4
Translated by: @seisoukan
With thanks to my proofers: @kuma829
Season: Winter
Location: Mall
SUBARU: We’ve arrived at our destination ☆
Where can we find those mascot animals you told us about, Ukki?
Hm?
I’ve never seen this area here before? Is it new?
MAKOTO: Mhm, this is the newly-opened Chinese vendor area I read about online. There are lots of products from there for sale~
ADONIS: I am quite interested in learning about these products.
I heard somewhere that China’s meat products are very diverse, so I have a little understanding of it.
MAKOTO: Haha, then Otogari-kun could check out the butcher’s store, or a Chinese restaurant.
ADONIS: Mhm. Let’s first find a gift for Oogami.
It’s getting late, after all.
MAKOTO: Yup, let’s go directly to the store mentioned online. When we have time, we can browse the rest of the feature area.
SUBARU: Sure! By then, we can call up Gami-san, Hokke and the others for a grand adventure~
MAKOTO: It should be in this area. Let’s go to this store first~
SUBARU: Whoa! It’s so red! It feels like the color red is everywhere~
And above us, there are tons of these weird hangings with lots of knots tied into them.
MAKOTO: Let me check. These seem to be called good luck knots, or Chinese knots. Their meanings range from ‘good luck and good fortune’ to ‘peace and prosperity’.
SUBARU: This material is super comfy to the touch. I think I’ll buy a bunch to hang on my body later~
Hey, Occhan, do you want to buy one as well?
Huh? Where did Occhan go? Ukki, have you seen Occhan?
MAKOTO: Ahh, nope… I was too fixated looking at all this stuff and in a moment of carelessness… er…
Ah, wait, Otogari-kun’s over there!
SUBARU: Occhan, don’t go running around by yourself!
ADONIS: Ah, I’m sorry. I saw something quite interesting, so I walked away.
These are some strange-looking animals. Which country are they from?
SUBARU: These should be the mythical beasts Ukki told us about, right?
Look, they even have a little good luck knot tied on their tail~
MAKOTO: Yup, I’ve seen some of these beasts in games of mine, so I recognize a few.
SUBARU: This one, this one! This one should be the divine dragon ☆ The one from Dr*gon B*ll that can grant wishes~
MAKOTO: You’re right, but I think this one matches Akehoshi-kun well~
This is called a pixiu[1]. In local culture, it is an auspicious beast that attracts wealth and treasure. It can bless Akehoshi-kun with tons of sparkly money ♪
SUBARU: Wow! This one’s good, I want to buy this one ☆
I’ll take really good care of you, so I’m asking you to bless me with a steady supply of super sparkly and shiny money ♪
ADONIS: Um, Yuuki, do you know what this one is? The one that looks like a turtle carrying something on its back.
MAKOTO: This should be a bixi[2]. What it’s carrying on its back is a stone tablet.
SUBARU: What a poor thing, having to carry su~ch a heavy object.
MAKOTO: Haha, it’s not what Akehoshi-kun thinks. In fact, this guy likes the weight; despite it, he always holds his head high, and never stops moving forward.
ADONIS: I want to buy this one. Although I’m unsure what it symbolizes, I greatly admire its tenacity.
MAKOTO: Mhm, I also feel like this creature is suitable for Otogari-kun~
But let’s see what to buy for Oogami-kun first. We all went off and bought our own things, and ended up forgetting the main quest.
SUBARU: Hm? Does that mean Ukki bought something too?
MAKOTO: Yup, this is what I bought. Hopefully it can protect me while I escape from my recent misfortunes~
SUBARU: This is a phoenix[3], isn’t it?
MAKOTO: Mhm, that’s right~ By the way, I just picked this out for Oogami-kun. What do you all think?
SUBARU: Wow, this one looks super majestic! Gami-san is sure to like it!
ADONIS: Mm, that’s what I think, too.
MAKOTO: If we’re all in agreement, then let’s choose this as our present~
Let’s go and visit Oogami-kun now. But where is he, exactly?
SUBARU: Give me a moment, I’ll contact Gami-san~
Subaru’s card is based off the pixiu. You can read more about them here.
Adonis’ card is based off the bixi. You can read more about them here.
Makoto’s card is based off the Chinese phoenix, quite different to the Western one. You can read more about them here.

How to escape education's death valley | Sir Ken Robinson
Translator: Joseph Geni Reviewer: Morton Bast thank you very much. I moved to the usa 12 years in the past with my wife Terry and our two youngsters. Sincerely, truthfully, we moved to los angeles — (Laughter) pondering we were relocating to the usa, but anyway — (Laughter) it’s a short aircraft experience from los angeles to the us. (Laughter) I bought here 12 years in the past, and after I received right here, I used to be advised more than a few matters, like, "americans don’t get irony." (Laughter) have you come throughout this idea? It can be now not proper. I’ve traveled the whole length and breadth of this nation. I have determined no proof that americans don’t get irony. It is a type of cultural myths, like, "The British are reserved." (Laughter) I do not know why people think this.We have invaded every country now we have encountered. (Laughter) but it surely’s no longer actual american citizens do not get irony, however I just need you to understand that that is what humans are announcing about you at the back of your again. You understand, so while you depart residing rooms in Europe, humans say, thankfully, no one was ironic on your presence. (Laughter) however I knew that americans get irony once I came throughout that legislation, "No baby Left behind." (Laughter) in view that whoever concept of that title will get irony. (Laughter) don’t they? (Applause) considering that it’s leaving millions of kids in the back of. Now i will be able to see that is not an extraordinarily appealing title for legislation: "millions of youngsters Left behind." i will see that. What is the plan? We advocate to leave hundreds of thousands of youngsters behind, and here’s how it’ll work. And it’s working superbly. (Laughter) In some elements of the country, 60 percentage of children drop out of excessive university. In the Native American communities, it can be 80 percent of youngsters. If we halved that number, one estimate is it could create a web reap to the U.S. Economic climate over 10 years, of just about one trillion greenbacks. From an fiscal factor of view, that is excellent math, isn’t it, that we must do this? It simply expenditures an large amount to mop up the damage from the dropout situation. However the dropout quandary is just the tip of an iceberg. What it does not rely are all of the youngsters who’re in college but being disengaged from it, who don’t revel in it, who don’t get any real improvement from it. And the reason just isn’t that we’re no longer spending ample money. The usa spends more cash on education than most different countries. Category sizes are smaller than in many countries. And there are hundreds of thousands of initiatives every 12 months to take a look at and beef up education. The concern is, it’s all going in the improper course. There are three ideas on which human existence thrives, and they’re contradicted by way of the tradition of schooling beneath which most teachers have to labor and most pupils have to suffer. The first is that this, that human beings are naturally distinct and diverse. Am i able to ask you, how many of you might have received youngsters of your own? Okay. Or grandchildren. How about two youngsters or extra? Right. And the relaxation of you have obvious such youngsters. (Laughter) Small men and women wandering about. (Laughter) i’ll make you a big gamble, and i am optimistic that i will win the wager. In case you’ve received two children or more, I wager you they’re entirely one of a kind from each and every different.Don’t seem to be they? (Applause) you can by no means confuse them, would you? Like, "Which one are you? Job my memory." (Laughter) "Your mom and i want some color-coding process so we don’t get stressed." education under "No child Left at the back of" is headquartered on no longer variety but conformity. What schools are encouraged to do is to find out what children can do throughout a very narrow spectrum of accomplishment. One of the vital effects of "No little one Left at the back of" has been to narrow the focal point onto the so-called STEM disciplines. They are very essential. I’m not right here to argue towards science and math. On the opposite, they’re essential however they’re now not ample. An actual schooling has to give equal weight to the arts, the humanities, to physical education. An awful lot of children, sorry, thanks — (Applause) One estimate in the united states currently is that whatever like 10 percentage of youngsters, getting on that manner, are being identified with various conditions underneath the wide title of awareness deficit ailment. ADHD. I am now not pronouncing there isn’t any such thing. I just do not feel it can be a pandemic like this. If you take a seat children down, hour after hour, doing low-grade clerical work, don’t be surprised in the event that they start to fidget, you know? (Laughter) (Applause) children aren’t, for probably the most section, suffering from a psychological situation. They’re affected by childhood. (Laughter) And i know this because I spent my early existence as a youngster. I went via the entire factor. Kids prosper exceptional with a wide curriculum that celebrates their quite a lot of skills, not only a small variety of them. And incidentally, the humanities are not simply main given that they support math ratings. They’re main given that they communicate to elements of children’s being that are otherwise untouched. The 2d, thank you — (Applause) The 2d principle that drives human life flourishing is curiosity. If which you could gentle the spark of curiosity in a child, they are going to learn with none further help, very almost always. Children are typical novices. It is an actual achievement to position that targeted ability out, or to stifle it. Curiosity is the engine of feat. Now the rationale I say this is seeing that some of the results of the present culture right here, if i can say so, has been to de-professionalize academics. There’s no process in the world or any university in the country that’s better than its lecturers. Academics are the lifeblood of the success of colleges. But educating is a inventive profession. Educating, accurately conceived, isn’t a delivery approach. You know, you’re now not there simply to move on acquired knowledge. High-quality academics try this, but what nice lecturers additionally do is mentor, stimulate, provoke, engage. You see, ultimately, education is set learning. If there isn’t any learning going on, there is no education going on. And folks can spend an terrible lot of time discussing schooling with out ever discussing studying. The entire factor of education is to get humans to study. An historic buddy of mine — certainly very historical, he’s dead. (Laughter) that is as historic as it will get, i’m afraid. (Laughter) but a exotic guy he was once, amazing thinker. He used to talk in regards to the difference between the challenge and fulfillment senses of verbs. That you may be engaged in the undertaking of anything, but not fairly be achieving it, like weight loss program. (Laughter) it is an excellent example. There he’s. He’s eating plan. Is he shedding any weight? Now not really. (Laughter) educating is a word like that. That you would be able to say, "there is Deborah, she’s in room 34, she’s instructing." but when no person’s learning whatever, she may be engaged within the task of instructing however not simply pleasing it.The position of a teacher is to facilitate learning. That is it. And a part of the main issue is, I think, that the dominant tradition of schooling has come to focus on now not educating and learning, but checking out. Now, trying out is predominant. Standardized checks have a place. But they will have to now not be the dominant culture of schooling. They must be diagnostic. They will have to help. (Applause) If i am going for a scientific examination, i want some standardized exams. I do. I want to comprehend what my cholesterol stage is compared to every body else’s on a average scale. I don’t need to be informed on some scale my health care provider invented in the auto.(Laughter) "Your ldl cholesterol is what I call stage Orange." "particularly?" (Laughter) "Is that good?" "We don’t know." (Laughter) but all that should aid learning. It should not hinder it, which of path it more commonly does. So in situation of curiosity, what we’ve is a culture of compliance. Our children and lecturers are encouraged to follow events algorithms alternatively than to excite that vigour of creativeness and curiosity. And the 0.33 principle is this: that human existence is inherently creative. It is why all of us have one of a kind rsums. We create our lives, and we are able to recreate them as we go via them. It can be the customary foreign money of being a individual. It is why human culture is so intriguing and various and dynamic. I imply, other animals may just well have imaginations and creativity, nevertheless it’s now not a lot in evidence, is it, as ours? I mean, you might have a canine. And your dog could get depressed. You understand, nevertheless it would not listen to Radiohead, does it? (Laughter) And sit down staring out the window with a bottle of Jack Daniels. (Laughter) "Would you love to come back for a walk?" "No, i am great." (Laughter) "You go. I’m going to wait. But take pix." (Laughter) all of us create our own lives by means of this restless approach of imagining alternatives and potentialities, and some of the roles of schooling is to awaken and increase these powers of creativity. As a substitute, what we’ve is a tradition of standardization. Now, it would not ought to be that manner. It relatively does not. Finland quite often comes out on high in math, science and studying. Now, we handiest be aware of that’s what they do good at, on account that that is all that’s being validated. That’s one of the vital problems of the test. They don’t seem for different things that topic just as much. The item about work in Finland is that this: they do not obsess about those disciplines. They’ve an extraordinarily broad strategy to schooling, which entails humanities, bodily schooling, the arts.Second, there’s no standardized checking out in Finland. I mean, there’s slightly, but it surely’s no longer what gets people up within the morning, what keeps them at their desks. The 0.33 thing — and i was at a meeting not too long ago with some individuals from Finland, precise Finnish persons, and a person from the American approach was once announcing to the persons in Finland, "What do you do concerning the drop-out rate in Finland?" and they all looked a little bemused, and stated, "well, we don’t have one. Why would you drop out? If folks are in obstacle, we get to them rather rapidly and we support and help them." Now persons perpetually say, "good, you already know, you can’t compare Finland to america." No.I suppose there is a populace of round 5 million in Finland. But which you can examine it to a state in the united states. Many states in america have fewer humans in them than that. I imply, i’ve been to a few states in the united states and that i used to be the only individual there. (Laughter) fairly. Fairly. I was once requested to lock up when I left. (Laughter) but what the entire excessive-performing systems on this planet do is currently what just isn’t evident, unluckily, across the systems in the us — I imply, as a whole. One is that this: they individualize teaching and learning. They admire that it is pupils who are studying and the system has to engage them, their curiosity, their individuality, and their creativity. That’s the way you get them to gain knowledge of. The 2nd is that they attribute an extraordinarily high fame to the educating career. They respect that you simply can not enhance schooling if you don’t decide upon excellent humans to instruct and hold giving them constant aid and legitimate development. Investing in legitimate progress shouldn’t be a cost. It is an funding, and each different country that is succeeding well is aware of that, whether it’s Australia, Canada, South Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong or Shanghai. They understand that to be the case. And the 1/3 is, they devolve responsibility to the university level for getting the job achieved. You see, there may be a giant change here between going into a mode of command and manage in schooling — that is what happens in some techniques. Critical or state governments decide, they recognize satisfactory and they’ll inform you what to do. The quandary is that schooling doesn’t go on in the committee rooms of our legislative buildings. It happens in school rooms and colleges, and the people who do it are the lecturers and the pupils, and should you do away with their discretion, it stops working. You have got to put it back to the folks. (Applause) there’s exotic work happening on this country. But I have to say it’s going down despite the dominant tradition of education, no longer given that of it.It can be like persons are sailing into a headwind at all times. And the rationale I feel is that this: that a number of the present policies are based on mechanistic conceptions of schooling. It is like education is an industrial approach that can be improved simply through having better information, and somewhere at the back of the mind of some policy makers is that this idea that if we first-class-tune it well ample, if we just get it proper, it is going to all hum along flawlessly into the long run. It won’t, and it never did. The point is that education just isn’t a mechanical system. It is a human system. It’s about people, humans who both do need to be trained or don’t need to study. Each pupil who drops out of institution has a purpose for it which is rooted of their possess biography. They may find it boring. They are going to find it inappropriate. They are going to to find that it’s at odds with the life they’re living external of college. There are developments, however the studies are constantly designated. I was at a meeting just lately in l. A. Of — they are known as substitute education packages. These are programs designed to get kids back into education. They’ve exact long-established elements. They are very customized. They have got robust help for the academics, shut links with the group and a extensive and diverse curriculum, and commonly packages which contain scholars external institution as well as within college. And they work. What’s exciting to me is, these are known as "alternative education." (Laughter) you already know? And all the evidence from around the world is, if all of us did that, there’d be no want for the alternative. (Applause) (Applause ends) So I feel we need to include one other metaphor. We have got to appreciate that it is a human process, and there are stipulations under which folks thrive, and conditions under which they don’t. We’re in the end healthy creatures, and the tradition of the school is certainly fundamental. Tradition is an healthy time period, isn’t it? Now not some distance from the place I reside is a place referred to as demise Valley. Demise Valley is the hottest, driest position in america, and nothing grows there. Nothing grows there due to the fact that it doesn’t rain. For that reason, death Valley. In the iciness of 2004, it rained in demise Valley. Seven inches of rain fell over a very short period. And in the spring of 2005, there was once a phenomenon. The whole floor of death Valley was once carpeted in plant life for a at the same time. What it proved is that this: that dying Valley is not useless. It is dormant. Proper underneath the outside are these seeds of probability ready for the correct conditions to come about, and with organic methods, if the stipulations are right, existence is inevitable. It occurs all the time. You’re taking an field, a tuition, a district, you change the conditions, provide humans another experience of probability, a further set of expectations, a broader variety of opportunities, you cherish and value the relationships between academics and learners, you offer humans the discretion to be ingenious and to innovate in what they do, and schools that had been as soon as bereft spring to life.Fine leaders know that. The true function of leadership in schooling — and that i suppose it can be true on the countrywide degree, the state degree, at the university degree — just isn’t and should no longer be command and manipulate. The true position of management is climate control, creating a local weather of possibility. And if you try this, people will upward thrust to it and attain matters that you just totally didn’t anticipate and couldn’t have expected. There is a exotic quote from Benjamin Franklin. "There are three sorts of persons in the world: people who find themselves immovable, people who do not get it, or do not want to do something about it; there are men and women who are movable, humans who see the necessity for change and are prepared to take heed to it; and there are men and women who transfer, folks who make matters happen." And if we can inspire more folks, as a way to be a movement. And if the movement is powerful adequate, that’s, in the first-rate sense of the phrase, a revolution. And that’s what we need. Thank you very much. (Applause) thank you very so much. (Applause) .

Job my memory." (Laughter) "Your mom and i want some color-coding process so we dont get stressed." education under "No child Left at the back of" is headquartered on no longer variety but conformity.

PIX: Shooting <I>Manmarziyaan</I> with Abhishek
We turn the pages of Abhishek Bachchan's journal as he takes us inside the sets of Manmarziyaan.
Movie-making is certainly not as easy as it seems.
One look at Abhishek Bachchan's Instagram page will confirm it.
The actor beautifully documents the sweat and toil behind the cameras on the sets of his new film Manmarziyaan in 30 days.
Each day captures a moment on set, along with Abhishek's interesting commentary and anecdotes.
Here's looking at Abhishek's Manmarziyaan journey, in his words and pictures.
'This was my second day of shoot in Amritsar. A wonderful scene when Robbie meets Rumi for the 1st time. The location was this beautiful house in the centre of old Amritsar which was meant to be Rumi's home.'
'#RoadToManmarziyaan, over the next couple of weeks I'll share photos from the sets which in a way symbolise my journey during the making of this film. Some personal anecdotes, experiences or just visuals I liked. I want to thank the immensely talented @khamkhaphotoartist for all these beautiful photos and for being such a sport always. Let the countdown begin...'
'They say - After a long dark night... The sun will rise. Sunrise is a symbol of a new beginning. Manmarziyaan, for me, was that new beginning. I hope I can payback the faith that @anuragkashyap10, @aanandlrai and @kanika.d had and showed in me by giving me the opportunity to be a part of this film, Abhishek writes, tagging director Anurag Kashyap, producer Aanand L Rai and writer Kanika Dhillon.
'So here's to eternal hope and beautiful sunrises.'
'We were rehearsing a rather intense scene.... I know it doesn't show from our body language.
'But, this is how @anuragkashyap10 approaches such scenes. He makes the environment and atmosphere very relaxed and allows his actors time to just effortlessly slip into the mind space he wants.
'This was a very new approach for me but I really enjoyed it. He removes the stress and hustle-and-bustle of the set and just gives his actors space and time. A true luxury if you've ever been on a film set.
'And once everyone is at ease and ready he throws you a curve ball!!! "Let's shoot this entire scene in 1 shot #RoadToManmarziyaan."'
'Bonfire nights in Kashmir. #Manmarziyaan #RoadToManmarziyaan #TakeTwo.'
'Two hard working actors!! In between shots on the sets.
'Hope @anuragkashyap10 appreciates the hard work and concentration. Let's not tell him that @taapsee is actually playing Word Trek on her phone and I'm not studying my dialogues but reading the call sheet to check how early I would need to report the next day. #Manmarziyaan #RoadToManmarziyaan #TakeTwo.'
'The people of Amritsar showed us so much love. They made the entire process of filming so enjoyable. Can't wait to go back...Especially for the food which I had to stay away from during our shoot. But, must indulge soon. #RoadToManmarziyaan #Manmarziyaan.'
'The best way to keep warm in Kashmir... Kahva! We were shooting in Sonamarg for the film and my fuel for the entire shoot was Kahva (Kashmiri tea)
'A very nostalgic trip for me... The last time I was there, was as a kid accompanying my father for the shoot of his film Silsila in the early 80's. I have many wonderful memories of that time and of Kashmir.
'It was a big moment for me to be able to also say that I had shot there like my father before me. #RoadToManmarziyaan #manmarziyaan.'
'Wait... So should I flex, or should I pout?... Aha!! I'll do both.
'Result? Epic fail! #RoadToManmarziyaan #Manmarziyaan.'
'In between shots in Kashmir. We were shooting a song.
'Playing the unofficial game of the #Manmarziyaan team... Word Trek.
'All were trying to catch up to the champion @anuragkashyap10 We'll catch him soon. #RoadToManmarziyaan.'
'In between takes while shooting the beautiful track "chonch ladiyaan". Possibly one of the fastest song shoots I've ever done. @anuragkashyap10 finished shooting the day in about an hour! 2 shots and he was done.
'Hence, we had a lot of time to hang out on set as is evident in the above photo. #Manmarziyaan #RoadToManmarziyaan.'
'While making a film you're part of a larger family...
'We were lucky to be visited by the children of our wonderful steadycam operator Manoj. It was his birthday and his wife and kids came to spend time with him.
'I truly love this about our industry; one big family!!
'And as my brother @karanjohar said... It's all about loving your family. #Manmarziyaan #RoadToManmarziyaan #TakeTwo.'
'So @anuragkashyap10 is prone to give random hugs to his actors and even start dancing if he likes the shot they've given. Here's proof!!!
He could also be trying to get me to finish breakfast and get into hair and wardrobe. (If you're shooting in Amritsar you can only imagine what the breakfast must've been like!!)
'But the hug story looks and sounds better. #Manmarziyaan #RoadToManmarziyaan.'
'The mirror is a great tool for an actor.
'Many of us rehearse our scenes in a mirror while we do our make-up. Similar to how dancers rehearse in front of a mirror. 'Also, just before our shot we tend to do a last check to make sure everything is looking as it should be. For me, personally, it kind of acts like a switch. Once you take a look... It's all systems go!!!
'Also, it's great to make sure there's nothing stuck in your nose!! #Manmarziyaan #RoadToManmarziyaan.'
'This was my 1st day of shoot for #Manmarziyaan. We were shooting in a night club. @kanika.d our immensely talented writer and I were rehearsing my lines for the day.'
'From the 1st time I met and interacted with her, I tease her saying that the film is actually her biopic ( which it clearly is NOT).
'I loved her involvement in her work and even her dedication to @anuragkashyap10 's vision.
'To have the writer on set is such a boon and offers a very unique perspective to the material, especially to the actors.
'Kanika worked so selflessly on the film and was so generous with sharing her work with us and being so supportive and open to different interpretations to her written work. She made all of us better, and for that I will be eternally thankful. #RoadToManmarziyaan.'
'It takes a village!
'Our talented and hard working AD and costume teams worked tirelessly to make sure Robbie looked and acted the part. They were also a constant source of great music. #RoadToManmarziyaan #Manmarziyaan.'
'I always say that make-up is an actors armour. And make-up artistes one of the most important people of an actors team.
'Vinod Upadhyay has been doing my make-up on and off since Dostana. A bond of trust and belief. He was another integral part of me becoming Robbie. #TeamRobbie #RoadToManmarziyaan #Manmarziyaan.'
'Coffee, a good script and conversation! @anuragkashyap10 provides all three. #RoadToManmarziyaan #Manmarziyaan.'
'Sometimes expressions speak louder than words.
'This when, your director suddenly decides that it would be a great idea for @taapsee to put snow down your back in the shot when you're shooting in sub zero temperatures.
'Needless to say, there wasn't much love for @anuragkashyap10 that day. #Manmarziyaan #RoadToManmarziyaan.'
'My first visit to the sets of #Manmarziyaan. I wasn't shooting but @anuragkashyap10 had asked me to come on set just to get an understanding of the set and film. In film parlance we call it "feel"!
'I enjoyed the experience so much that often, even when I wasn't shooting I would come and hang on the sets and just observe this amazing group of actors perform. #RoadToManmarziyaan #TakeTwo.'
'With my favourite... @probirsabnis. Multi-talented, Actor, Assistant Director, singer, DJ, creative producer and all time favourite punching Bag!!!
'There's always one person in a unit that you bond with and connect with. They become the go-to person for everything you need to know and want. Probir or "Farjee bandook" as I lovingly call him, was that guy. A great sport and an all round great guy.
'Good luck with all your future endeavours and best wishes always FB. #RoadToManmarziyaan #Manmarziyaan.'
'No matter what the content, the aim is to put a smile on your directors and audiences face.'
'A very tough and intense scene in the film. But true to style of @anuragkashyap10 everyone was all smiles. This approach of his, sets a very relaxed tone and atmosphere.
'Makes the filming process a little less intimidating.'
'Just loved this moment captured by @Khamkhaphotoartist.
'Despite all the activity around an actor you have to find your own peace and concentrate on the task at hand. This task was trying not to get fumigated by hair spray!!!
'Raghu my hairstylist for the film works for the brilliant @aalimhakim and was a constant source of entertainment and stress equally for me. He took his revenge with his hair spray!'
'Hanging out at the video village (the video monitor area) where the Director calls the shots from,' Abhishek writes tagging Anurag Kashyap, Kanika Dhillon and actors Sachdeva Saurabh and Taapsee Pannu.
On Anurag's birthday on September 10, Abhishek writes, 'May you always smile. So much to say and thank you for. Will wait to do it in person.'
'Possibly the one time this tornado of an actor was calm and still....
'@taapsee you were an absolute pleasure to collaborate with. Your crazy energy has translated so beautifully into Rumi. I don't think anyone would disagree that you were born to play Rumi. The only irreplaceable cast member in the entire film. Thank you for your love, generosity and patience with me.
'Don't forget @vickykaushal99 and me during your exceptance speeches.'
